• MACA Song Writers Quest to Encourage Local Music Creation

        (Macao, Jun. 28, 2015)- Macau Association of Composers, Authors and Publishers (MACA) hosts the MACA Song Writers Quest 2015 on June 28 at Sands Theatre. The Quest is organized by MACA, sponsored by the Cultural Institute of the Macau S.A.R. Government, the Macau Foundation and Sands Macau, with the aim to encourage the development of local creative industries and provide music creators with the opportunity to shine and to gain valuable experiences both on stage and on album-recording.
     

         The judge panel for the Quest includes Hong Kong Lyricist Jolland CHAN, Hong Kong Lyricist CHENG Kok Kong, Hong Kong Composer, Arranger & Music Producer Schumann LEE and Hong Kong Composer Jim LAU. All judges will be there on the show night to give feedback to the contestants on their music composition, lyrics and other aspect of their performances so that they can continue to improve professionally. In addition to this, MACA invites Sun Entertainment singer-songwriter and winner of MACA Song Writers Quest 2013 Vivian CHAN, Universal Music artists Agatha KONG and CHAO Yan Ting as guest performers.
     

         Close to fifty musical works had been submitted for MACA Song Writers Quest 2015, and the judge panel handpicked eight songs to be performed on the show night. The result was released in May 2015, including 1. Naive No More (Music by CHANG Heng Ian, Lyrics by LOK Chi Hou), 2. Right at 30? (Music & Lyrics by CHAN Hou I), 3. Flash Bulb (Music & Lyrics by CHAN Hou Ip), 4. Parachute (Music by LEONG Chi Long, Lyrics by LEONG Chou In), 5. Monster (Music & Lyrics by HO Ka Meng), 6. Buried Love (Music & Lyrics by Black Sheep), 7. All I Want from You (Music & Lyrics by PUN Kuan Pou), 8. Hourglass (Music & Lyrics by CHAN Chi Wang).
     

         After months of practice and preparation, the eight entry songs compete on the show, and all awards go to their rightful owners at the end of the night: 1st place: ‘All I Want from You’ & ‘Right at 30?’, 2nd place: Naive No More, 3rd place: ‘Buried Love’ (MOP12k, MOP8k, MOP5k cash prize and a trophy respectively); Best Music: ‘All I Want from You’, Best Lyrics: ‘Right at 30?’ and Best Performance: Hourglass (MOP4k cash prize and trophy each). In addition to these, all eight entry songs will be used to produce the charity album ‘MACA Album Vol. 4’; all sales will be donated to the Macau Deaf Association for charitable causes.
