• Galaxy Entertainment Group on Board with MACA to Support Music Creators

(Macao, Oct. 29, 2015)  –The Macau Association of Composers, Authors and Publishers (MACA) and Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) today have reached an agreement on music public performance license which aims to protect the copyrights of all songwriters whose works are played under the properties of GEG.

Being a supportive company to local cultural and innovative industry, GEG will play music of various genres at its hotel public areas, including Galaxy Macau™, StarWorld Hotel and Broadway Macau™. Not only this agreement covers the copyrights of local music which is properly used when local bands play their songs under GEG’s properties, but also extends to the bands performing in Broadway Macau.

MACA expresses their gratitude to GEG for their efforts to protect the copyrights of music creators and their support to the sustainable development of the music industry in Macau. This signifies an important step towards the goal of safeguarding the interests of local and international music creators in Macau. MACA collects royalties from music users and distributes to relevant local copyright owners and affiliated societies, which saves and efforts of the music creators who can then concentrate on creating more musical works.

MACA is currently the sole operating and registered collective management organization founded by a dedicated group of local composers led by Mr. Ung Kuoc Iang. The Association is supported by the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC) and registered in the Macau Department of Identification and the Intellectual Property Department in the Economic Service. MACA was founded to reinforce the public's respect towards composers and authors and ensure that their creative efforts are properly remunerated.
