(Macau, 10 Feb, 2017)–The Macau Association of Composers, Authors and Publishers (MACA) holds the General Assembly & Annual Dinner on Fri, 10 Feb 2017. The General Assembly is hosted by MACA Chairman UNG Kuoc Iang, with the goal to report the committee affairs and financial situation, and to interpret the current situation of the public performing license in Macau and the criterion of distributing royalties.
During the General Assembly, UNG reports the operating situation of the past year. MACA has reached the music performance license agreement with six entertainment groups, which help to increase the income of the music creators and authors. MACA is currently representing 81 local members and 6 local publishers, as well as over two million music creators from the 46 affiliated societies which has signed reciprocal agreement with MACA. UNG also indicates that royalty for local members last year amounted to MOP 200,000 is collected from different affiliated societies including CASH (Hong Kong), MUST (Taiwan), MACP (Malaysia) and JASRAC (Japan), and will be distributed to local members.
Apart from license management, MACA holds all kinds of activities to raise the public awareness of copyright issues, such activities include MACA Song Writers Quest. Besides, MACA has published five albums to encourage the local cultural and creative industry. MACA has held the Copyright Funfair for four consecutive years, with the aim to increase the awareness of music copyright.
In addition, MACA has established the fund “MACA Music Scholarship” since the academic year 2011/12 for local secondary school students with outstanding achievements in music, as a mean to cultivate a new generation of music talents and work towards the sustainable development of the local cultural and creative industry.
