• MACA Song Writers Quest 2017 Urges Local Music Creation

          (Macau, July 8, 2017)– Macau Association of Composers, Authors & Publishers (MACA) holds MACA Song Writers Quest 2017 on July 8, 7:30pm at the Sands Theatre. The Quest is organized by MACA, with the great support and sponsorship by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the Macao Foundation, Sands China Ltd., Air Macau, Link Star Amusement and Advertisement Production and Power Star Lighting and Audio Equipment. The goal of the Quest is to encourage local music creation, and to explore potential talents with this unique platform provided.

     

         The judge panel for the Quest includes Hong Kong Composer, Arranger & Music Producer Schumann, Hong Kong Lyricist & Singer CHAN Wing Him, Hong Kong Composer, Arranger & Music Producers Adrian CHAN and Larry WONG. The judges give feedback to the contestants on various aspects like the music composition, lyrics and stage performance, thus improving their standards on music creation. Moreover, Hong Kong artists Jonathan WONG and Jill VIDAL are invited to the Quest as guest performers.

     

          More than forty musical works were submitted for MACA Song Writers Quest 2017. Eight entry songs were selected by the judge panel and were announced in mid-May, including 01. Losers (Music & Lyrics by Ondina CHAN), 02. The Inexistent Past (Music & Lyrics by Iron), 03. The Confession of a Bum (Music by Patricio CHAN, Lyrics by Nico), 04. I Don’t Wanna Grow Up (Music & Lyrics by H.Y.Chan@Chessman), 05. My Cutie (Music & Lyrics by Garland), 06. Floral (Music & Lyrics by Kevin CHENG), 07. Youth to Remember (Music by Jason, Lyrics by Agos), 08. The Ark (Music by Tynick CHOI, Lyrics by Annan U).

     

          After months of practice and preparation, the eight entry songs compete on the show night and all awards go to their rightful owners at the end of the night: Winner of “The Best Song”: The Ark (Music by Tynick CHOI, Lyrics by Annan U), 1st runner-up: I Don’t Wanna Grow Up (Music & Lyrics by H.Y.Chan@Chessman), 2nd runner-up: Youth to Remember (Music by Jason, Lyrics by Agos) (MOP12k, MOP8k, MOP5k cash prize and a trophy respectively); Best Music: The Ark (Music by Tynick CHOI, Lyrics by Annan U), Best Lyrics: The Ark (Music by Tynick CHOI, Lyrics by Annan U), Best Performance: The Ark (Music by Tynick CHOI, Lyrics by Annan U) (MOP4k cash prize and a trophy each), and My Favorite Song: Youth to Remember (Music by Jason, Lyrics by Agos) (MOP3k cash prize and a trophy) which is selected by the audience. In addition to these, all eight entry songs will be used to produce the album “MACA Album Vol.6”.
