• MACA hosts Music Scholarship Award Ceremony 2018 to Encourage Outstanding Students with Excellent Musical Achievements, 37 Secondary Schools Participated

         (Macau, June 14, 2018) – The Macau Association of Composers, Authors & Publishers (MACA) hosts the “MACA Music Scholarship Award Ceremony 2018” at the 1st floor auditorium of Macao Museum of Art in the afternoon of 14 June, 2018 (Thursday) at 5:00 pm. As a kind of encouragement, recognition and affirmation of the efforts, the scholarship was given to students with outstanding musical achievements.

     

         Honorable guests who attended the ceremony include Xin Jianbo, Deputy Director of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macao SAR, Chu Miu Lai, Member of the Board of Directors of Cultural Industries Fund, Cheang Hio Man, Director of Intellectual Property Rights Department of Macao Economic Services, U Iek Chun, Senior Superintendent of Head of IPR Investigation Division of Macao Customs Service, Ho Hoi Ieng, Supervisor of the Centre of Educational Resources of Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, Ho Ka Weng, Programme Coordinator, School of Arts of Macao Polytechnic Institute, Ian Heng Wa, Chefe of Culture and Recreation Committee of União Geral das Associações dos Moradores de Macau, Tam Ming Kwong, Vice Director of Macao Federation of Trade Unions, Cheng Wai Sum, Director Officer of Macao Deaf Association and Ung Kuoc Iang, CEO of MACA.

     

         MACA was established in 2009 and is the only non-profit non-government collective management Association that granted to enforce the Macao Copyright Law. With the support from the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC), reciprocity agreements were signed with a total of 49 overseas unions and 110 countries and regions to manage the public access rights in Macau of over 2 million music creators. MACA established the Music Education Fund since the academic year of 2011/2012 and all secondary schools of Macau are being invited to participate in the "MACA Music Scholarship" program. Each year, the school will recommend to MACA a student with excellent music achievement. After the approval from the Board of Directors of MACA, student will receive the scholarship. The purpose is with this scholarship, student can acquire the musical learning materials and further demonstrate their talents and strengths. This year's “MACA Music Scholarship” program also brings the second year of MACA to organize the “Walking Into The Studio Workshop”. A visit to the recording studio will be arranged to students from the scholarship and school representatives, with the aim to let them understand the procedures and operations of the music production and to experience the recording process so that students can better understand the music production.

     

         In the speech of Ung Kuoc Iang, he hopes that people who love music will join the family of music creation and more young people will develop in music. He also hopes that students of the scholarship will maintain their enthusiasm for music, continue to work hard and will not give up. Under the education from school and parents as well as from the resources of the society, it will strengthen the interest of young people in learning music. In the future, MACA will continue its efforts to promote the development and standards of music creation.
