• MACA held “Song Writers Quest” for Six Consecutive Years to Encourage Local Music Creation

         (Macau, July 28, 2018) –"MACA Song Writers Quest 2018, organized by Macau Association of Composers, Authors & Publishers (MACA), was held on 28 July, 7:45 pm at the Venetian Theatre. With the great support and sponsorship from the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the Macao Foundation, Sands China Ltd., Link Star Amusement and Advertisement Production and Power Star Lighting and Audio Equipment, the event was held successfully. Undertake the past achievements, MACA continuously promotes Macau local music, explore potential local music creator and add new power to Macau’s original music. The 8 finalists competed for the Champion, the 1st and 2nd runner-up as well as the award of “The Best Song Composition”, “The Best Lyrics”, “The Best Performance” and “My Favourite Song” selected by netizens.

           Quest judges are Hong Kong Composer, Arranger & Music Producer Schumann, Hong Kong Lyricist & Singer Chan Wing Him, Hong Kong Composer, Arranger & Music Producer Adrian Chan and Robin Chi. During the competition, the performances of the teams won warm applause from the audience and the judges gave scores and professional opinions on the music composition, lyrics and stage performance to the contestants in order to improve their standard on music creation. Contestants of the eight finalists will have the chance to represent Macau to participate in the “International Songwriting Camp” in October. They will create music works with global musicians together and exchange the experiences of music creation. This would be a rare and precious opportunity. Moreover, MACA Music Ambassador Sean Pang and Hong Kong famous artist Jill Vidal were invited to be the guest performer.

     

          The professional judging panel selected 8 final songs from more than forty musical works, they are 01. You’re the One (Music by Herson Si, Lyrics by Herson Si and Daniel Ng), 02. Indulgence (Music & Lyrics by SUNSET OR RISE), 03. Gloomy Sunday (Music by Bobby Lio, Lyrics by Ondina Chan), 04. Miss. Secret (Music & Lyrics by Kevin Cheng), 05. Meredith (Music & Lyrics by Crystal Iu), 06. Pull The Trigger (Music by Filipe and Ken Sou, Lyrics by Filipe and H.Y. Chan), 07. The Formula (Music and Lyrics by Tynick Choi), 08. Little Trace (Music and Lyrics by Iron Ian).

     

          After several months of preparation and rehearsal, 8 finalists performed their song to compete the awards and the judges have selected the winners of each award, they are the Champion, Little Trace (Music and Lyrics by Iron Ian); the 1st runner-up, The Formula (Music and Lyrics by Tynick Choi); the 2nd runner-up, Pull The Trigger (Music by Filipe and Ken Sou, Lyrics by Filipe and H.Y. Chan), each will receive a trophy and a cash prize of twelve thousand, eight thousand and five thousand Macau Patacas respectively. “The Best Song Composition”, Little Trace (Music and Lyrics by Iron Ian); “The Best Lyrics”, Little Trace (Music and Lyrics by Iron Ian); “The Best Performance”, Pull The Trigger (Music by Filipe and Ken Sou, Lyrics by Filipe and H.Y. Chan) each will receive a trophy and a cash prize of four thousand Macau Patacas. For “My Favourite Song”, The Formula (Music and Lyrics by Tynick Choi), which was selected by netizens will receive a trophy and a cash prize of three thousand Macau Patacas. In addition, the 8 final songs will be recorded in the music album “MACA Album Volume 7”
