(MACAU, 13 June 2019)–“MACA Music Scholarship Ceremony” was held by MACAU ASSOCIATION OF COMPOSERS, AUTHORS & PUBLISHERS (MACA) in 13 June 2019 (Thursday). The venue was taken place in Auditorium, 2nd Floor, Handover Gifts Museum of Macao (Avenida Xian Xing Hai, No. 237 - 285). The aim of the ceremony was to encourage and compliment the outstanding students in musical field by issuing them the scholarship. MACA also hoped that the scholarship scheme could enhance the importance of music education in society. Guests attending the ceremony included Chu Miu Lai, Member of the Board of Directors of Cultural Industry Fund; Cheang Hio Man, Department Head of Intellectual Property Rights Department of Macao Economic Services; Cheang Wa Gum, Inspector of IPR Investigation Division, Intellectual Property Rights Department of Macao Customs; Ho Hoi Ieng, Supervisor of Centre of Educational Resources of Education and Youth Affairs Bureau; Dai Bai Sheng, Programme Coordinator of Music, School of Arts of Macao Polytechnic Institute; Ian Heng Wa, Officer of the Culture and Recreation Committee of Macao General Union of Neighbourhood Associations; Lao Sut Man, Director General of Macau Deaf Association; JOÃO KRUSS GOMES (the Chairman of the Board of Directors of MACA) and Ung Kuoc Iang (C.E.O of MACA).
“MACA Music Scholarship” was launched in the academic year 2011/2012 and was cordially invited all the Secondary schools in Macau to participate in this scheme. Every year, each of the school will nominate an outstanding student in musical filed for the captioned scheme. All the compositions from the students will be reviewed by the Board and issued the scholarship to the winner. The purpose was to add up music learning materials and to develop the strength in their musical talents. MACA has launched the “Studio Workshop” for three year. This workshop was to let the awarded students and the representative of schools to visit the studio. The purpose was to let them understand more about the process and operation of music production as well as experience the process of recording.
In the speech, JOÃO KRUSS GOMES mentioned that "Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area" published by The State Council of the People's Republic of China emphasized the need to promote cultural prosperity and development, cultivate the talents, strengthen and promote the country music industry. Therefore, MACA has added a new award, “New Original Music Award”, to those excellent students who had outstanding performance in vocal and instrument. These awarded students were reviewed and selected by the professional music judges. All the awards were to encourage more potential students to develop in music production field. MACA was established in 2009, throughout this decade, there are 49 overseas musical societies have signed reciprocal agreements with MACA and it represents the public performing right of musical works for more than two million music creators and publishers in Macau and overseas.

Furthermore, the students from Keang Peng School; Escola Tong Nam; Millennium Secondary School; Chan Sui Ki Perpetual Help College and Escola Portuguesa de Macau were awarded the “New Original Music Award”.
