• "MACA Song Writers Quest 2019" Continues to Discover Excellent Original Music

      (Macau, July 21, 2019)–– The "MACA Song Writers Quest 2019" hosted by Macau Association of Composers, Authors and Publishers (MACA) was held on July 21 (Sunday), 7:45 pm at the Macau Dom Pedro V Theatre. Since 2013, the event is held annually. It aims to promote and encourage the original works and the development of Macau's music culture. Through this event, will bring together the best music creators in Macau to show their original and innovation music works; to bring up talents in music creation and get a good response from music field. The event was sponsored and strongly supported by the Macao Cultural Affairs Bureau, the Macao Foundation, Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A. (SJM), Grand Lisboa, Link Star Amusement and Advertisement Production and Power Star Lighting and Audio Equipment, Oriental Foundation and Associação dos Proprietários do Teatro Dom Pedro V Macau.

     

      The judging panel composes of Hong Kong composer, arranger & music producer Schumann and Adrian Chan and Hong Kong lyricist Gene Lau. They have selected 8 final songs from many of the musical works, they will complete for the Champion, the 1st and 2nd runner-up as well as the award of “The Best Music”, “The Best Lyrics”, “The Best Performance” and “My Favourite Song”. The 8 finalist songs include 01. Titan (Music by Bobby Lio & Chan Hou I, Lyrics by Chan Hou I); 02. Morning Call (Music by Vong Kai Hong, Lyrics by Wong Sio U); 03. Dreamland (Music by Leong Chi Long, Lyrics by Lio Jun Lang); 04. The Lonely Song (Music by AJ@MFM, Lyrics by Lo Ka Hou @MFM); 05. What About Growth (Music by Choi Kuok Chu Guoch, Lyrics by Si Seng Wai); 06. Difficulty (Music by Cheung Chou In & Ka Fu @class, Lyrics by Ka Fu @class); 07. My Time (Music and Lyrics by Ian Hao I); 08. See Through (Music and Lyrics by Chiang Sio Wa). In addition, the contest also invited MACA music ambassador Sean Pang as a guest performer.

     

      The 8 finalists expressed that this is an opportunity and platform to shine and show their extraordinary temperament. Through this competition, more people can understand the original music of Macau and the contestants can learn the technique of music creation from the judges in person as well as to meet more Macau's excellent original music creators, to enhance with each other the opportunities for cooperation, communication and creation. On the night of the competition, the wonderful performances of the teams won warm applause from the audience. The judges gave scores, on the songs, lyrics and stage performances of the contestants, giving their professional opinions in order to improve the music creation level. After the intense and exciting performances and the demanding selection of the judges, winners of each award include the champion: My Time (Music and Lyrics by Ian Hao I), 1st runner-up: What About Growth (Music by Choi Kuok Chu Guoch, Lyrics by Si Seng Wai), 2nd runner-up: Dreamland (Music by Leong Chi Long, Lyrics by Lio Jun Lang) and See Through (Music and Lyrics by Chiang Sio Wa), each of them will receive a prize of 10,000, 8,000, 5,000 Macau Patacas and a trophy respectively. The Best Song Composition Award and The Best Lyrics Award:: My Time (Music and Lyrics by Ian Hao I) and The Best Performance Award: What About Growth (Music by Choi Kuok Chu Guoch, Lyrics by Si Seng Wai), each winner will receive 4,000 Macau Patacas and a trophy. Winner of My Favourite Song Award which is selected by the audience is Titan (Music by Bobby Lio & Chan Hou I, Lyrics by Chan Hou I) and will receive 3,000 Macau Patacas and a trophy. In addition, songs of the eight finalists will be recorded as a music compilation "MACA Album Vol.8".
