Fifty-six Secondary School Students received the "MACA Music Scholarship" Awards in Macau

(Macau, 4 June 2023) “MACA Music Scholarship Award Ceremony” was held by Macau Association of Composers, Authors & Publishers (MACA) on 4 June 2023 (Sunday) at 3:00 pm. at the Fátima Auditorium. Guests attending this awards ceremony include Li Jiaxin, Representative of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Cheang Hio Man, Department Head of Intellectual Property of Economic and Technological Development Bureau of the Macao SAR Government; Ho Hong Pan, Head of the Department for the Promoting Cultural and Creative Industries of Macao Cultural Affairs Bureau; Ho Hoi Ieng, Supervisor of Centre of Educational Resources of Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Macao SAR Government; Mok Kin Yee Raymond, Associate Professor of Faculty of Arts and Design of Macao Polytechnic University; Lei Wai Kin, Member of the Culture and Recreation Committee of Macau General Union of Neighbourhood Associations; Cheang Wai Sam Summer, Senior Project Executive of Macau Deaf Association; Wong Ka Lon, Chairman of Macao Youth Federation; Chan Kin Man, Vice-Head of Public Relations and Publicity Department of the 61st Executive Committee; Mr. João Gomes, Chairman of the Board of Directors of MACA and Ung Kuoc Iang, CEO of MACA.

The award winners of “MACA Music Scholarship 2022/2023” were from 43 schools including Macau Anglican College, The International School of Macao, Concordia School For Special Education, Colegio de Santa Rosa de Lima (SC), Sacred Heart Canossian College Macau, Kwong Tai Middle School Macau, Macao Baptist College, Escola dos Moradores de Macau, Academia de Musica Sao Pio X, Escola Tong Nam, Hou Kong Premier School Affiliated to Hou Kong Middle School, Colégio Diocesano de São José 5, Escola Oficial Zheng Guanying, Escola Choi Nong Chi Tai, Colégio Diocesano de São José 6, Keang Peng School, Yuet Wah College (English Section), Yuet Wah College, Pui Ching Middle School, Colegio Mateus Ricci, Pui Va Middle School, Fong Chong School of Taipa, Kao Yip Middle School, Hou Kong Middle School, Escola Tong Sin Tong, Escola Dom Luís Versiglia, Escola Xin Hua, Colegio de Santa Rosa de Lima (English Secondary), Escola Caritas de Macau, Escola Portuguesa de Macau, Escola Católica Estrela do Mar, Saint Paul School Macau, Our Lady of Fatima Girls School, Escola Secundária Luso-Chinesa de Luís Gonzaga Gomes, Chan Sui Ki Perpetual Help College, Macau Pooi To Middle School, Instituto Salesiano de Macau, Escola Luso-Chinesa Técnico-Profissional, Millennium Secondary School, Saint John de Brito School, Sacred Heart Canossian College Macau (English Section) and Lingnan Middle School Macau.

Mr. João Gomes, Chairman of the Board of Directors of MACA talked about the difficulties and challenges which we are facing in the world. Music creation is the best way to present your feelings and thoughts at the moment. He also reminded everyone that they have different values and abilities, as well as inspired the younger generation to continue to move towards their dreams through the famous quotes of celebrities. MACA Music Scholarship was launched in the academic year of 2011/2012 and has been implemented for twelve years, it has also been five years since the " MACA New Original Music Award" was added. The 13 students who won the “MACA New Original Music Award” were from Macao Baptist College, Academia de Musica Sao Pio X, Escola Tong Nam, Hou Kong Premier School Affiliated to Hou Kong Middle School, Keang Peng School, Pui Va Middle School, Hou Kong Middle School, Saint Paul School Macau, Our Lady of Fatima Girls School, Chan Sui Ki Perpetual Help College and Macau Pooi To Middle School. This scholarship is specially designed to encourage students who are interested in music or talented to continue to develop in music industry in the future. This year, the students who participated in this award received comments from the judges on their works. The students also said the comments they received would be very helpful in their creations and receiving the “MACA New Original Music Award” is also an encouragement and affirmation to them. In order to share the works of the awarded students with the audience, three award-winning students from Chan Sui Ki Perpetual Help College, Academia de Musica Sao Pio X and Keang Peng School (Secondary Section) performed their original works at the award ceremony.
