• "MACA Music Scholarship" Has Been Held for 13 Consecutive Years, and a Total of 58 Students Have Won the Award This Year

    (Macau, 8 June 2024) “MACA Music Scholarship Award Ceremony” was held by Macau Association of Composers, Authors & Publishers (MACA) on 8 June 2024 (Saturday) at 3:00 pm. at the Fátima Auditorium. Guests attending this awards ceremony include Cheang Hio Man, Department Head of Intellectual Property of Economic and Technological Development Bureau of the Macao SAR of the People’s Republic of China; Au Tak Yan, Inspector of Customs Service of the Macao SAR of the People’s Republic of China; Raymond Mok, Associate Professor of Faculty of Arts and Design of Macao Polytechnic University; Jenny Lam, Head of Office for Student and Alumni Affairs of University of Saint Joseph; Jasmine Cheong, Vice President of Community and Government Relations of Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace; Karen Kwan, Executive Director – Entertainment of Sands China, Limited; Choi Meng Lei, Officer of Culture and Recreation Committee of Macao General Union of Neighbourhood Associations; Sio Hin Wa, President of Macao New Chinese Youth Association; Cheang Wai Sam, Officer of Macau Deaf Association and Ung Kuoc Iang, CEO of MACA.

     

    Mr. Ung Kuoc Iang, CEO of MACA, said in his speech at the event that this year is the 15th anniversary of the establishment of MACA and the 13th anniversary of the establishment of the "MACA Music Scholarship". Over the past 13 years, MACA has persisted in awarding the "Music Scholarship" every year no matter what difficulties it encounters. Because attaching importance to cultivating musical talents is a key direction to enhance the development of music creation and music copyright in Macao. In addition, MACA has carried out over the years through hundreds of " Copyright Campus Tour", ten large-scale music events " MACA Song Writers Quest" and multiple "MACA Pop Music Master Class", " MACA Copyright Funfair", "MACA Music Festival", "Intellectual Property Seminar", " Studio Tour Workshop" and other activities have created, produced and promoted more than 480 original music works for Macao. He also encouraged students who are interested in or talented in music to continue developing in the direction of music creation, and will continue to cultivate more new generations of music talents in Macao.

     

    The award winners of “MACA Music Scholarship 2023/2024” were from 43 schools including Saint John de Brito School, Concordia School For Special Education, Macao Sam Yuk Middle School, Escola Tong Sin Tong, Sacred Heart Canossian College Macau, Colegio de Santa Rosa de Lima (SC), Escola Católica Estrela do Mar, Colegio de Santa Rosa de Lima (English Secondary), Affiliated School of the University of Macau, Macau Pooi To Middle School, Escola Caritas de Macau, Millennium Secondary School, Pui Ching Middle School, Escola Dom Luís Versiglia, Escola Luso-Chinesa Técnico-Profissional, Pui Va Middle School, Colegio Mateus Ricci, Fong Chong School of Taipa, Escola dos Moradores de Macau, Hou Kong Middle School, Macao Baptist College, Yuet Wah College, Yuet Wah College (English Section), Kwong Tai Middle School Macau, Escola Oficial Zheng Guanying, Escola Xin Hua, Lingnan Secondary School, Escola Portuguesa de Macau, Macau Anglican College, Saint Paul School Macau, Academia de Musica Sao Pio X, Instituto Salesiano de Macau, Kao Yip Middle School, Escola Secundária Luso-Chinesa de Luís Gonzaga Gomes, Sacred Heart Canossian College Macau (English Section), Escola Tong Nam, Hou Kong Premier School Affiliated to Hou Kong Middle School, Our Lady of Fatima Girls School, The International School of Macao, Keang Peng School, Chan Sui Ki Perpetual Help College, Colégio Diocesano de São José 6, Colégio Diocesano de São José 6 (English Section).

     

    In addition, MACA has added the " New Original Music Award" for the sixth year. This year, this award was awarded to 16 students who have created outstanding original music works in an effort to discover more original music from Macao. There were also award-winning students from Chan Sui Ki Perpetual Help College and Academia de Musica Sao Pio X of Music performing their original works live on marimba, piano and cello respectively. After the event, senior music instructors conducted on-site interactive exchanges and interviews with the award-winning students, hoping to provide students with more professional experience sharing and inspire students' enthusiasm for music creation.
