• Press Conference of “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Song Writers Quest”

    (Macao, August 28, 2024) – The "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Song Writers Quest" organized by the Composers, Authors and Publishers Association (MACA), and supported by the Music Copyright Society of China (MCSC), the Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong Limited (CASH), and Cultural Development Fund of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, will be held across 2024 and 2025. MACA held a press conference at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the R14 Hall of the Macao Young Entrepreneur Incubation Centre (MYEIC), to explain the details of the event, arrangements and competition rules.

     

    At the press conference, a representative of MACA said the "MACA Song Writers Quest " has been held since 2013 and has now been held for ten years. The " Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Song Writers Quest " is a pop music creation competition jointly organized by societies from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau. It aims to promote the exchange and interaction of music culture in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and promote the development of music creation together. The event consists of six parts: press conference, the recruitment phase of the Song Writing Workshop, Song Writing Workshop, call for entries for the Song Writers Quest, finals and performance. After the press conference, the event will begin immediately for the recruitment phase of the Song Writing Workshop. Registration will be open from today until September 27. In order to discover and train more potential music creation talents, the training course provides a series of professional training in music copyright, composition, lyrics, and arrangement skills from famous music instructors in Macao.

     

    The call for entries for the " Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Song Writers Quest" will be announced in the first quarter of next year. In this event, a professional judges panel will select eight outstanding music works from all enrolled original music works from GBA to enter the finals. On the night of the finals, those professional judges panel will provide on-the-spot comments on the contestants’ compositions and lyrics, arrangement, singing skills and stage performance. In order to continuously improve the overall quality of contestants’ music creation and performance of their works. The competition will ultimately award prizes for the Champion, the 1st Runner-up, the 2nd Runner-up, the Best Composition, the Best Lyrics, the Best Performance, My Favourite Song and the Outstanding Song Award, along with cash prizes and trophies. There will be a stage performance on the day of the finals. The public can register at designated locations and receive free tickets to watch the performance. The last part of the entire event is the performance segment, MACA will invite local Macau singers to perform the top three winning works in two middle schools or universities. It also conveys the power of original music and inspires young people to develop in the direction of music and original music.     The press conference also invited a songwriter Ondina Chan, who has previously won the "MACA Song Writers Quest", to share her music creation experience. Chan said the "MACA Song Writers Quest" is an important event for music creators in Macao. It gives them the opportunity to collaborate with different music creators to create new creative sparks. At the same time, they have an opportunity to communicate directly with senior judge and benefited a lot from participating in the competition. She is looking forward to this event involving music creators from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. She believes that they can improve their competitiveness through competition.
