• MACA’s Visit to the Macao Foundation to Exchange Views on Intellectual Property Rights

        (Macao, Mar. 6, 2015) – The Macau Association of Composers, Authors & Publishers (MACA) visited the Macao Foundation on Monday, March 7 2015 to discuss and exchange views on the protection and promotion of intellectual property rights.

     

    Chairman Ung Kuoc Iang, as the founder of MACA, related the establishment of MACA, which aims to effectively ensure the advancement of creator’s moral interests and the defence of the material interests of Creators and publishers. PR Manager Florence Van introduces the events held by MACA to encouraging local talents to develop in music industry. The highlights of the year are MACA Song Writers Quest and the MACA Music Festival, which provide local music talents with the opportunity to shine and gain valuable experiences on stage and on album recording. Licensing Officer Terry Li explained not only the workflow of Music Public Performance Licensing, but also the international network connected with MACA. More than twenty-five overseas musical societies have empowered MACA as their representative in Macao, which gives MACA a worldwide music repertory which covers five continents, namely Asia, Europe, Oceania, North America and South America. MACA’s Director John Ho also emphasizes that MACA tariffs are fairly and reasonably set according to the commercial value of music brings to businesses, as well as taking into consideration of the neighbouring territories of Macao.

     

    Member of the Administrative Council of the Macao Foundation AU Weng Chi welcomed the representatives from MACA and praised on the works done by MACA. In addition, AU gives a brief introduction of the Macao Foundation and of the sponsorship application. Both parties discuss and exchange views on the protection and promotion of intellectual property rights.
