• MACA Visit DSEJ to Exchange Views on the Education Copyright Knowledge

        (Macao, Mar. 11, 2015) – The representatives of the Macau Association of Composers, Authors & Publishers (MACA) visit the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau of the Macao government and meet with Chief of the Research and Educational Resources Department WONG Kin Mou; Director of the Centre of Documentation, Information and Public Relations TSANG Hio Ian, and Functional Head of Centre of Educational Resources HO Hoi Leng.

     

    UNG Kuoc Iang, the founder of MACA, briefly introduces the establishment of MACA. MACA’s purpose is to protect the intellectual property of the musical work of the members of MACA in Macau and aboard. Besides copyright management, MACA sets up a music fund to encourage local music talents to develop their interests. UNG Kuoc Iang also emphasises that MACA is supported by the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC), through which more than twenty-seven overseas musical societies have empowered MACA to represent their members in Macao. Hence, MACA has a worldwide music repertory which covers five continents including Europe, Australia, Asia, North America and South America. PR Manager Florence Van also introduces the annual events held by MACA with the aims to raise the awareness of music copyright protection in public and to encourage the development of local music industry, such as, talks on intellectual property , copyright funfairs, the Song Writers’ Quest, the Music Festival, etc.

     

    WONG Kin Mou welcomes the representatives from MACA and gives affirmations to its achievements. TSANG Hio Ian also expresses her support to the Association’s missions. WONG Kin Mou also suggests MACA provide the public with a better understanding of the protection on music copyright, while HO Hoi Leng makes enquiries regarding the usage of music in the academia. During the meeting, both parties have an in-depth discussion on the education and promotion of copyright knowledge.
