• MACA Hosts Song Writers’ Quest for Second Year in a Row

        (Macao, July. 26, 2014) – - Macau Association of Composers, Authors and Publishers (MACA) hosts the MACA Song Writers Quest 2014 on July 26 at Sands Theatre. The event attracts guests from all walks of life, including Department Chief of the Office of the Public Prosecutor General U Kam, the Cultural Affairs Bureau Deputy Chief LEONG Ieng Va, the Macao Customs Service Chan Ieng Kit, the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau Centre Director Cheung Man Fai, the Official Provisional Municipal Council HOI Kuok Kun, Sands China Ltd. Senior Vice President of Public Relations and Community Affairs Melina LEONG, the Macao Federation of Trade Unions IAN Heng Wa and WONG Kuai Leng, the Macau Deaf Association Director LAU Sut Man, the Macau Artistes Association President CHU Chi Iong, Teledifusão de Macau Producer CHAN Kuok Wai, MACA Chairman UNG Kuoc Iang, Director Gary TOU and Director John HO.

     

    The Quest is organized by MACA, sponsored by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and venue-sponsored by Sands Macao. Keen to notch up another success, it aims to encourage the development of local creative industries and provide local music talents with the opportunity to shine and gain valuable experiences on stage and on album-recording. More than 500 free tickets are given out two weeks before the show.

     

    A panel of celebrity judges from Taiwan and Hong Kong is invited for the Quest, including Fred CHEN Lo-Jung, Danny SUMMER, Schumann LEE, Gene LAU, Harry NG and Vicky FUNG. The professional judges give instant feedbacks to the contestants on their live performances, the music composition as well as the lyrics of their songs. Also, MACA invites Auston Lam Si Kit and J.Arie, both well-known music creator-singers from Hong Kong, as guest performers for the Song Writers’ Quest.

     

    Fifty musical works were submitted by both professionals and amateurs for this year. The eight songs performed and competed at the Quest were handpicked by the judge panel, including 1. MISS IT (music by SOU Io Kuong, lyrics by LONG Sai Kit), 2. FROST LOVE (Music by Crossline, Lyrics by CHAN Chi Wang), 3. HUMAN (music & lyrics by Ondina CHAN), 4. AWAY IN ROME (Music by Frog WONG, Lyrics by Tracy CHANG), 5. DINING TABLE AT HOME (Music by CHENG Man Cheng, Lyrics by LONG Sai Kit), 6. WAKE UP (Music by Adelino DA SILVA, Lyrics by FONG Wai Nga), 7. YOU CAN FEEL MY HEART (Music by Adelino DA SILVA, Lyrics by FONG Wai Nga and ADELINO DA SILVA), 8. WEATHER LIKE LOVE (Music & Lyrics by LAU Sun).

     

    At the end of the night, the awards go to their rightful owners: Winner of “The Best Song”:   AWAY IN ROME, awarded with MOP10k cash prize and the trophy; 1st Runner-up: YOU CAN FEEL MY HEART, awarded with MOP5k cash prize and the trophy; 2nd Runner-up: HUMAN, awarded with MOP3k cash prize and the trophy; Best Music: AWAY IN ROME and Best Lyrics: HUMAN (music & lyrics by Ondina CHAN), each winners receives a cash prize of MOP2k and the trophy. In addition to these, all eight entry songs will be used to produce the charity album ‘MACA Album Vol. 4’; all sales will be donated to the Macau Deaf Association for charitable causes.
